Yesterday’s Contemplation

Life is often fraught with a series of events or situations you cannot anticipate, nor can you avoid. We are blindsided by people and circumstance, often left feeling numb, confused, or maybe we just desire to detach ourselves from the situation. Today was such a day for me. I received news regarding a family member, and honestly, I have no clue how to process the information. I am not equipped to respond to such a bold announcement. We as humans are so bold and so very arrogant, to think we know better than our Creator what we are and who we are supposed to be. Our Creator filled us with life, and He alone gives us purpose. I firmly believe He makes no mistakes. There is a reason we are the way we are, there is meaning in the things we experience, and there is hope in Him alone.

I still do not know how to process the news from today, but this I do know; we are called to love one another, we were created for a relationship with our Creator, and with His creation. May we not let our confusion, hurt feelings, failure to understand or comprehend compromise relationship.  May we love as we are loved, forgive as we have been forgiven, and share truth as we have been commissioned. We can share truth in love, and still honor the person we are sharing truth with. We can love others and still hold firmly to what we believe and what God’s Word demands. Let us not forget our own sin, let us not be quick to judge others, let us not downplay our own arrogance, but always let us love, and continue to seek God, at all times, in all things. We need not celebrate sin to love one another. We can love without compromising what we believe.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
